Planting Instructions for Calendula Seeds
- Location: Choose a sunny location with well-drained soil. Calendula can tolerate partial shade.
- When to Plant: Sow Todd’s Seeds Calendula seeds outdoors in early spring after the last frost, or start indoors 6–8 weeks before the last frost.
- Soil Prep: Loosen soil and amend with compost if needed. Ideal soil pH is 6.0–7.0.
- Sowing Depth: Sow seeds 1/4 to 1/2 inch deep.
- Spacing: Space seeds or thin seedlings 8–12 inches apart.
- Watering: Keep soil evenly moist during germination (7–14 days). Once established, water moderately.
- Care: Deadhead spent flowers to prolong blooming. Calendula may self-seed and return the following year.
- Bloom Time: Blooms begin in early summer and continue until frost. Suitable for beds, borders, and containers.
