Planting Instructions for Candytuft Seeds

  1. Location: Choose a site with full sun and well-drained soil.
  2. When to Plant: Sow Todd’s Seeds Candytuft seeds outdoors in early spring after the danger of frost has passed, or in fall in mild climates. Seeds can also be started indoors 6–8 weeks before the last frost.
  3. Soil Prep: Loosen soil and remove weeds. Mix in compost if the soil is poor. Ideal pH is 6.0–7.5.
  4. Sowing Depth: Sow seeds 1/4 inch deep.
  5. Spacing: Thin or transplant seedlings to 6–12 inches apart.
  6. Watering: Keep soil moist during germination (10–15 days). Once established, water moderately—avoid soggy soil.
  7. Care: Deadhead spent blooms to encourage continued flowering. Trim plants lightly after flowering to maintain shape.
  8. Bloom Time: Spring to early summer. May rebloom lightly in fall in some climates. Candytuft is a hardy, low-maintenance ground cover.
