Planting Instructions for Carrot Seeds
- Location: Choose a sunny site with loose, well-drained, stone-free soil.
- When to Plant: Sow Todd’s Seeds Carrots seeds outdoors 2–4 weeks before the last expected frost. For continuous harvests, sow every 2–3 weeks until midsummer.
- Soil Prep: Loosen soil to at least 12 inches deep and mix in compost. Avoid fresh manure or high-nitrogen fertilizers.
- Sowing Depth: Sow seeds 1/4 inch deep.
- Spacing: Sow seeds 1 inch apart in rows 12–18 inches apart. Thin seedlings to 2–3 inches apart once they are a few inches tall.
- Watering: Keep soil consistently moist during germination (14–21 days) and root development. Avoid overwatering.
- Care: Mulch to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Avoid disturbing roots when weeding.
- Harvest: Harvest carrots when they reach the desired size, usually 60–80 days after planting. Gently loosen the soil and pull by hand.
