Planting Instructions for Chrysanthemum Seeds
- Location: Choose a site with full sun and well-drained, fertile soil.
- When to Plant: Start seeds indoors 6–8 weeks before the last frost, or sow outdoors after the danger of frost has passed.
- Soil Prep: Loosen soil and enrich with compost if needed. Ideal soil pH is 6.5–7.0.
- Sowing Depth: Sow Todd’s Seeds Chrysanthemum seeds on the surface of the soil and press gently. Do not cover, as light aids germination.
- Spacing: Thin or transplant seedlings to 12–18 inches apart.
- Watering: Keep soil consistently moist during germination (7–14 days). Water regularly once established, but avoid waterlogging.
- Care: Pinch back growing tips when plants are 6 inches tall to encourage bushier growth. Deadhead spent blooms to extend flowering. Mulch to retain moisture and control weeds.
- Bloom Time: Late summer to fall. Chrysanthemums are excellent for garden beds, borders, and cut flowers.
