Planting Instructions for Cilantro Seeds

  1. Location: Choose a site with full sun to light shade and well-drained soil.
  2. When to Plant: Sow Todd’s Seeds Cilantro seeds outdoors in early spring after the last frost or in late summer for a fall crop. Cilantro prefers cooler temperatures (50–85°F).
  3. Soil Prep: Loosen soil and mix in compost if needed. Ideal pH is 6.2–6.8.
  4. Sowing Depth: Sow seeds 1/4 inch deep.
  5. Spacing: Sow seeds 1–2 inches apart in rows 12–18 inches apart. Thin to 6 inches apart once seedlings are a few inches tall.
  6. Watering: Keep soil consistently moist during germination (7–14 days) and throughout the growing season.
  7. Care: Cilantro bolts quickly in hot weather. To extend the harvest, plant successive crops every 2–3 weeks. Mulch helps retain soil moisture.
  8. Harvest: Harvest leaves when plants are 4–6 inches tall. Cut outer leaves first, or snip the whole plant 1–2 inches above the soil. Allow some plants to flower and set seed if you want coriander.
