Planting Instructions for Clarkia Seeds
- Location: Choose a site with full sun to partial shade and well-drained soil.
- When to Plant: Sow Todd’s Seeds Clarkia seeds directly outdoors in early spring after the last frost, or in fall in mild climates for early blooms.
- Soil Prep: Loosen soil and remove weeds. Clarkia prefers slightly acidic to neutral soil (pH 6.0–7.0). No fertilizer is usually needed.
- Sowing Depth: Sow seeds on the surface and lightly press into the soil. Do not cover, as light aids germination.
- Spacing: Thin seedlings to 6–10 inches apart once they are a few inches tall.
- Watering: Keep soil evenly moist during germination (7–14 days). Once established, water moderately and avoid overwatering.
- Care: No pruning needed. Tall varieties may benefit from light staking. Deadhead to encourage continued blooming.
- Bloom Time: Late spring to summer. Clarkias are ideal for cut flowers and wildflower gardens.
