Planting Instructions for Collinsia Seeds (Chinese Houses / Blue Eyed Mary)
- Location: Choose a spot with full sun to partial shade and well-drained soil. Ideal for wildflower meadows, borders, or woodland edges.
- When to Plant: Sow Todd’s Seeds Collinsia seeds directly outdoors in early spring after the last frost, or in fall in mild climates for spring blooms. Collinsia does not transplant well.
- Soil Prep: Loosen the top 1–2 inches of soil and remove weeds. No fertilizer needed for average soil.
- Sowing Depth: Scatter seeds on the surface and press lightly into the soil. Do not cover—seeds need light to germinate.
- Spacing: Thin seedlings to 6–10 inches apart once they are a few inches tall.
- Watering: Keep soil evenly moist during germination (7–20 days). Water lightly once established—Collinsia prefers drier conditions.
- Care: Little maintenance needed. Avoid overwatering and do not fertilize heavily.
- Bloom Time: Late spring to early summer. Flowers attract pollinators and reseed easily for future seasons.
