Planting Instructions for Coreopsis Seeds
- Location: Choose a site with full sun and well-drained soil. Coreopsis tolerates poor, sandy soils and drought once established.
- When to Plant: Sow Todd’s Seeds Coreopsis seeds directly outdoors after the last frost, or start indoors 6–8 weeks before the last expected frost.
- Soil Prep: Loosen soil and remove weeds. No fertilizer is needed unless the soil is very poor. Ideal pH is 6.0–7.5.
- Sowing Depth: Sow seeds on the surface and press gently into the soil. Do not cover, as light aids germination.
- Spacing: Thin or transplant seedlings to 10–15 inches apart.
- Watering: Keep soil lightly moist during germination (7–21 days). Once established, water only during prolonged dry periods.
- Care: Deadhead spent blooms to encourage continuous flowering. Cut plants back in midsummer if needed to promote a second bloom.
- Bloom Time: Early summer through fall. Coreopsis attracts bees and butterflies and may self-seed in favorable conditions.
