Sprouting Instructions for Green & Red Lentils
- Supplies Needed: Quart-size wide-mouth jar, mesh sprouting lid or cheesecloth, and clean water.
- Measure Seeds: Use 1/4 to 1/2 cup of lentils per jar. Todd’s Seeds Lentil seeds expand significantly during sprouting.
- Soak: Place lentils in the jar and cover with 2–3 times as much water. Soak for 8–12 hours or overnight.
- Drain & Rinse: Drain the soaking water, rinse with fresh, cool water, and drain again thoroughly. Place the jar at an angle upside down to allow excess water to escape and air to circulate.
- Rinse Schedule: Rinse and drain 2–3 times daily with cool water.
- Location: Keep the jar in a well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight. Room temperature (65–75°F) is ideal.
- Harvest:

- Longer sprouts: Let them grow for up to 5 days if preferred.
- Final Rinse: Rinse one last time and drain thoroughly. Remove any unsprouted seeds or seed coats if desired.
- Storage: Store sprouts in a sealed container in the refrigerator. Best used within 4–5 days. Rinse before using.
