🧺 Supplies Needed:

  • Todd’s Seeds Broccoli sprouting seeds (e.g., Brassica oleracea var. italica)
  • Shallow tray or container (with drainage holes)
  • Sterile potting soil or seed-starting mix
  • Spray bottle or fine-mist watering can
  • Light source (sunny window or grow light)

🪴 Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Soak Seeds (Optional):
    • Soak broccoli seeds in clean water for 6–8 hours to speed up germination.
    • Rinse and drain well.
  2. Prepare Tray:
    • Fill your tray with 1–2 inches of moist potting soil.
    • Gently pat down to create an even surface.
  3. Sow Seeds:
    • Scatter soaked seeds evenly across the soil surface.
    • Do not bury—just press them gently into the soil.
  4. Moisture & Covering:
    • Mist lightly with water.
    • Cover the tray with a humidity dome, plastic wrap, or another tray (to block light for the first 2 days).
  5. Germination (Days 1–2):
    • Keep in a dark, warm area (~70°F).
    • Mist twice daily to keep moist but not soggy.
  6. Uncover & Light (Days 3–7):
    • Remove the cover once seeds begin to sprout.
    • Place under indirect sunlight or a grow light for 12–16 hours/day.
    • Continue misting to keep the soil surface moist.
  7. Harvest:
    • Ready in 5–10 days when sprouts are 2–3 inches tall.
    • Cut just above the soil line with scissors.
    • Rinse before eating.
