Planting Instructions for Black Eyed Susan Seeds
- Location: Choose a spot with full sun and well-drained soil.
- When to Plant: Sow Todd’s Seeds Black Eyed Susan Seeds outdoors in spring after the last frost or in late fall for natural stratification. Seeds can also be started indoors 6–8 weeks before the last frost.
- Soil Prep: Loosen soil and remove weeds. Mix in compost if desired. Ideal soil pH is 6.0–7.0.
- Sowing Depth: Sow seeds on the surface and press gently into the soil. Do not cover, as light aids germination.
- Spacing: Space seeds or seedlings 12–18 inches apart.
- Watering: Mist lightly to keep soil moist until germination (7–30 days). Once established, water moderately—Black Eyed Susans are drought tolerant.
- Care: Deadhead to encourage continuous blooming. Cut back in fall or leave seed heads for winter interest and wildlife.
- Bloom Time: Expect blooms from summer through early fall. Plants may reseed naturally.
