Planting Instructions for Carrot Seeds

  1. Location: Choose a sunny site with loose, well-drained, stone-free soil.
  2. When to Plant: Sow Todd’s Seeds Carrots seeds outdoors 2–4 weeks before the last expected frost. For continuous harvests, sow every 2–3 weeks until midsummer.
  3. Soil Prep: Loosen soil to at least 12 inches deep and mix in compost. Avoid fresh manure or high-nitrogen fertilizers.
  4. Sowing Depth: Sow seeds 1/4 inch deep.
  5. Spacing: Sow seeds 1 inch apart in rows 12–18 inches apart. Thin seedlings to 2–3 inches apart once they are a few inches tall.
  6. Watering: Keep soil consistently moist during germination (14–21 days) and root development. Avoid overwatering.
  7. Care: Mulch to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Avoid disturbing roots when weeding.
  8. Harvest: Harvest carrots when they reach the desired size, usually 60–80 days after planting. Gently loosen the soil and pull by hand.
