Planting Instructions for Sage Seeds

  1. Location: Choose a spot with full sun and well-drained soil. Sage thrives in warm, dry conditions and does well in containers or herb gardens.
  2. When to Plant:
    • Indoors: Start seeds 6–8 weeks before the last frost date.
    • Outdoors: Transplant or direct sow after the last frost, once the soil has warmed.
  3. Soil Prep: Loosen soil and amend with compost if needed. Ideal pH is 6.0–7.0. Ensure good drainage to prevent root rot.
  4. Sowing Depth: Sow Todd’s Seeds Sage seeds 1/8 inch deep and lightly cover with soil.
  5. Spacing: Thin or transplant seedlings to 18–24 inches apart.
  6. Watering: Keep soil evenly moist during germination (10–21 days). Once established, water sparingly—sage is drought-tolerant.
  7. Care: Prune regularly to encourage bushy growth and prevent woodiness. Avoid over-fertilizing, which can reduce flavor. Mulch lightly to suppress weeds.
