Planting Instructions for Arugula Seeds:

  1. Location: Choose a spot with full sun to partial shade and well-draining soil.
  2. Soil Prep: Loosen soil and enrich with compost if needed. Ideal pH is between 6.0 and 7.0.
  3. Direct Sowing: Sow Todd’s Seeds Arugula seeds directly outdoors as soon as the soil can be worked in early spring. You can also plant in late summer for a fall crop.
  4. Planting Depth: Sow seeds ¼ inch deep and 1 inch apart in rows spaced 10–12 inches apart.
  5. Thinning: Once seedlings are 2 inches tall, thin to 4–6 inches apart to allow room to grow.
  6. Watering: Keep soil consistently moist. Avoid letting the soil dry out to prevent bitterness.
  7. Growing Conditions: Arugula grows best in cool weather (45–65°F). Provide shade in hot weather to prevent bolting.
  8. Harvesting: Begin harvesting young leaves when they’re 3–4 inches long, typically in 20–30 days. Pick outer leaves first or cut the whole plant 1 inch above the soil to allow regrowth.
  9. Succession Planting: Sow seeds every 2–3 weeks for a continuous harvest throughout the season.
