Planting Instructions for Borage Seeds

  1. Location: Select a sunny location with well-drained soil.
  2. When to Plant: Sow Todd’s Seeds Borage seeds directly outdoors after the last frost. Borage does not transplant well.
  3. Soil Prep: Loosen soil and mix in compost if needed. Ideal soil pH is 6.0–7.0.
  4. Sowing Depth: Sow seeds 1/4 to 1/2 inch deep.
  5. Spacing: Space seeds or thin seedlings to 12–18 inches apart.
  6. Watering: Keep soil evenly moist during germination (7–14 days). Once established, water during dry periods.
  7. Care: Borage is low maintenance. Remove spent flowers to encourage more blooms. May self-seed readily.
  8. Harvest: Harvest young leaves and flowers as needed. Leaves are best when tender; flowers are edible and make attractive garnishes.
