Planting Instructions for Cress Seeds

  1. Location: Choose a site with full sun to partial shade and moist, well-drained soil. Cress can also be grown indoors or in containers.
  2. When to Plant: Sow Todd’s Seeds Cress seeds outdoors in early spring as soon as the soil can be worked. For a continuous harvest, sow successive plantings every 2–3 weeks. Cress prefers cool weather.
  3. Soil Prep: Loosen soil and mix in compost if needed. Ideal pH is 6.0–7.0.
  4. Sowing Depth: Sow seeds 1/4 inch deep.
  5. Spacing: Space seeds 1 inch apart in rows 6–12 inches apart. Thin seedlings to 2–3 inches apart.
  6. Watering: Keep soil consistently moist during germination (5–7 days) and throughout the growing period.
  7. Care: Cress grows quickly and requires little maintenance. Shade during hot weather to prevent bolting.
  8. Harvest: Begin harvesting when plants are 2–3 inches tall, usually within 10–15 days. Snip leaves just above the soil level. Harvest frequently for the best flavor.
