Planting Instructions for Lavender ‘Vera’ Seeds
- Location: Choose a site with full sun and well-drained, slightly sandy or rocky soil. Lavender prefers hot, dry conditions once established.
- When to Plant:
- Indoors: Start seeds 10–12 weeks before the last frost.
- Outdoors: Transplant after the last frost when the soil has warmed.
- Cold Stratification (Recommended): For better germination, refrigerate seeds in a damp paper towel in a sealed bag for 3–4 weeks before planting.
- Soil Prep: Ensure good drainage by mixing in sand or grit. The ideal pH is 6.5–7.5.
- Sowing Depth: Sow Todd’s Seeds Lavender, Vera seeds on the surface and press lightly—do not cover, as light aids germination.
- Spacing: Thin or transplant seedlings to 18–24 inches apart.
- Watering: Keep soil moist during germination (14–28 days). Once established, water only when the top inch of soil is dry.
- Care: Avoid overwatering and high humidity. Prune annually after flowering to maintain shape and encourage growth.
- Bloom Time: Mid to late summer. Lavender ‘Vera’ produces fragrant purple-blue flowers ideal for drying, crafts, and pollinator gardens.
