Planting Instructions for Zinnia Seeds

  1. Location: Choose a spot with full sun and well-drained soil. Zinnias thrive in heat and are easy to grow.
  2. When to Plant:
    • Outdoors: Sow Todd’s Seeds Zinnia seeds directly after the last frost when the soil is warm (above 60°F).
    • Indoors: Start seeds 4–6 weeks before the last expected frost date and transplant carefully.
  3. Soil Prep: Loosen soil and mix in compost if needed. Ideal pH is 5.5–7.5.
  4. Sowing Depth: Sow seeds 1/4 inch deep.
  5. Spacing:
    • Short varieties: Space 6–9 inches apart.
    • Taller varieties: Space 12–18 inches apart in rows 18–24 inches apart.
  6. Watering: Keep soil evenly moist during germination (5–10 days). Water at the base to avoid wetting foliage and prevent mildew.
  7. Care:
    • Thin seedlings to proper spacing to promote air circulation.
    • Deadhead spent blooms to encourage continuous flowering.
    • Mulch to retain moisture and suppress weeds.
